Gerry and the Pacemakers
were signed
by manager Brian Epstein as his second group
after the Beatles, and made their name with
ballads like
'Ferry Cross the Mersey' and 'Don't Let the
Sun Catch You Crying'
as well as raunchy pop. But it was a Rodgers
& Hammer stein song,
'You'll Never Walk Alone',
which had enthralled Marsden since he saw
the film Carousel in his youth, that was
their biggest hit. For three decades it has
remained the anthem of the crowds at
Liverpool Football Club, played before
kick-off every Saturday, inscribed on the
club gates and always the most popular
concert request.

Festival for a date in April or May 2009.

Ranges and participating wineries in order
to establish the date and details of the
festival

The Melbourne Cup Carnival has played a
principal role in establishing the Victorian
Spring Racing Carnival as Australia's major
annual sporting event. In 2005, the
Melbourne Cup Carnival generated an
estimated $A318 million in revenue in the
state of Victoria equating to 61 per cent of
the entire Spring Racing Carnival benefit,
with over $A12.5 million being spent on
Melbourne Cup Carnival fashion alone.
