NEW
2,500 SEATER ENTERTAINMENT
CENTRE
A
NEW 2500-person
entertainment venue will be
built as part of a $50 million
State Government plan to
revamp the Entertainment
Centre.
Premier Mike Rann announced
the Adelaide Entertainment
Centre, on Port Rd, will be
revamped and a second venue
for smaller concerts will be
built at the site.
The redevelopment is predicted
to draw at least 25 more live
music events to South
Australia.
"We want to make sure that we
continue to attract the
biggest performers and the
best events in to the future
for the enjoyment of South
Australians,'' Mr Rann said.
Along with the new venue, the
centre will receive a major
external refurbishment but the
interior will not be altered.
The centre received another
major boost with yesterday's
Budget announcement that the
Glenelg tram line will be
extend to the site.
Entertainment Centre chairman
Bob Foord said the new venue
would not take business away
from the popular Governor
Hindmarsh which is located
opposite.
